BRUGGE CITY BRUNE

BELGIAN-STYLE BROWN ALE

6.2 % ABV - 25 IBUs

Named for the city in Belgium, This lovely brown ale is a unique style rarely found in the U.S.  It is crafted with a dark Belgian syrup that is made from sugar beets and is similar to molasses. The syrup adds color, minerality, and a burnt sugar flavor.  The blend of European malts and the Belgian yeast adds a toasty complex beer and with a quick finish of dried fruits.  It demonstrates restraint.  It is Belgian beer to its core and yet, not the caricature of Belgian beer that we often are exposed to in the U.S..  It has flavor.  It is not incredible strong in alcohol and it doesn’t taste like bubblegum and cloves.  This beer embodies the spirit of Belgian brewing and we are glad to share what true Belgian-style beer is all about, here in the South.

This beer pairs well with grilled and roasted meats, soft-rind cheeses, hardy stews, hoppin John and collard greens.
